From rethinking to leading change with national and global reach

Map the System is a global competition that asks students and educators to rethink social and environmental issues through systems thinking going beyond disciplines and questioning deeply held assumptions. It aims to bridge the gap between student-as-learner and student-as-changemaker.

The competition begins!

Check out our three upcoming workshops and the useful list of resources about systems thinking, research, and mapping.

Map The System Canada 2025

Canadian Final Featured in Banff Systems Summit 2025

We're excited to feature the Canadian Campus Finalists in Banff on May 19. The Summit will be a venue where student finalists can compete for national awards, while also giving chances to involve in the Summit’s activities and engage with a diverse range of professionals and educators in systems thinking.

A Partnered Initiative!

Mount Royal University’s Institute for Community Prosperity (ICP) and ATCO’s SpaceLab are celebrating the formation of a forward-thinking partnership that will ensure the growth and development of the ICP’s signature Map the System program as well as ATCO business directives. The partnership will provide students increased opportunities to deepen their research competence and understand important and complex social challenges using a systems-thinking approach. It will also allow ATCO employees access to Map the System education and idea cross-pollination with emerging talent.
